Next-Generation Arm Neoverse Platform Redefines Global Infrastructure

Date: 19-09-2022 ClickCount: 203

Arm today announced a new addition to the Arm® Neoverse™ roadmap, rooted in Arm's scalable efficiency and technology leadership while reinforcing Arm's commitment to supporting partners' continued rapid innovation.

The industry is increasingly looking to Arm Neoverse to enable the performance, power efficiency, dedicated processing power, and workload acceleration that will redefine and transform computing infrastructures around the world," said Chris Bergey, senior vice president, and general manager, Infrastructure Business Unit, Arm. With Arm's coverage of the world's broadest range of computing applications and unique insight into complete computing applications, the next generation of infrastructure technology needs to rely on the performance and efficiency that comes from Arm DNA. With today's addition to the Neoverse roadmap, we are ready and confident that the Arm architecture is the cornerstone of the infrastructure of the future."

Build on Demand, Not Just Go with the Flow

To meet the needs of large Internet and HPC customers and to further drive cloud workload performance without increasing power and area, Arm is introducing the Neoverse V2 platform (codenamed "Demeter") with the latest V-Series cores and industry widely deployed Arm CMN- 700 mesh interconnect technology. Neoverse V2 will deliver market-leading full-scale performance for cloud and HPC workloads and introduce several Armv9 architectural security enhancements.

Grace will combine the power efficiency of Neoverse V2 with the power efficiency of LPDDR5X memory to deliver up to 2x performance per watt over legacy architecture servers. Performance per watt than servers with traditional architectures.

In addition, as part of Arm's continued investment in high performance and efficient throughput, a new generation of N-Series products is in development and will be available in 2023. The next generation N-Series CPUs will deliver generational improvements in performance and efficiency compared to the market-leading efficiency of the N2.

Neoverse E-Series CPUs are used in many applications, including data plane processing, 5G RANs, edge networks, and gas pedals. To help fuel this diversity, Arm is introducing the Neoverse E2 platform, combining the Arm Cortex®-A510 CPU with the scalable Neoverse CMN-700 and N2 system backplanes so that relatively constrained applications can take advantage of such features as a scalable core count range, Arm SystemReady™ compatibility, and cloud technologies such as PCIe, CXL, IO and interfaces.

The Neoverse platform addresses a wide range of issues that accelerate infrastructure solutions. Dedicated processing power helps reduce workload power consumption and meet the higher computing demands of modern workloads. But this cannot be achieved with CPU cores alone.

Arm architecture is the cornerstone of cloud-native software.

With all major cloud service providers already offering instances based on the Arm architecture, Arm is working with its cloud partners to optimize cloud-native software infrastructures, frameworks, and workloads. This benefits widely adopted projects such as Kubernetes, IsTIo, and multiple CI/CD tools that provide native builds for the Arm architecture. And enhancements include machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and cloud software workloads such as open source databases, big data and analytics, and media processing. This work is done in collaboration with developers who contribute to the open-source community. Arm has long invested in and led the optimization of full-stack solutions, driving them to run on the Arm architecture so that all end users can build next-generation applications on the Arm architecture.

The strength of the Arm software ecosystem combined with the Neoverse platform and leading high-performance bus technologies such as AMBA CHI, UCI, and CXL enable Arm partners to develop custom solutions from the cloud to the edge.

No other technology provider can combine the speed, breadth, and technical innovation to empower Arm's strong ecosystem of partners and developers to evolve and build the systems of tomorrow rapidly.

Custom Solutions from the Cloud to the Edge

The Neoverse-based platform redefines what's possible in the cloud by enabling Arm eco-partners to innovate freely across infrastructure domains through market-leading scalability efficiencies. Since its launch in 2018, Neoverse has seen rapid adoption, with Neoverse-based instances now available in all major public clouds.

In 5G RAN and wireless infrastructures, the Arm delivers leading performance with lower power consumption and better throughput, enabling total key cost of ownership (TCO) benefits. This enables Arm's partners to customize products for applications and use cases such as small base stations, macro base stations, and private networks. Through the Arm 5G Solutions Lab, Arm works with 5G ecosystem leaders such as Dish Wireless, Google Cloud, Marvell, NXP, Vodafone, and others to accelerate end-to-end 5G networks on the Arm architecture.

At the same time, with the release of the Ampere Altra-based HPE Proliant 11th generation platform and projects such as VMware's Project Monterey, RedHat's OpenShift support for the Arm architecture, and SAP HANA's migration of its cloud infrastructure to AWS Graviton powered by Arm Arm is also moving into the more traditional enterprise space with the launch of
