Introduction of 5 mainstream members of STM8 series

Date: 11-11-2020 ClickCount: 1287

STM8 series microcontrollers, 8-bit microcontroller platform based on high-performance 8-bit core and advanced peripheral set, occupy a pivotal market position in the 8-bit microcontroller industry, the platform uses ST's proprietary 130 nm embedded Manufactured in non-volatile memory technology.

STM8's enhanced stack pointer operations, advanced addressing modes and new instructions allow users to achieve fast and safe development. At the same time, it has powerful advantages: simple circuit structure, convenient serial port download, low price, and the title of the king of cost performance...

STM8

NO.1: STM8S mainstream series

ST's STM8S series mainstream 8-bit microcontrollers are suitable for a variety of applications in the industrial, consumer and computer markets

Use, especially in the case of large quantities. Based on the STM8 proprietary core, the STM8S series uses ST's 130nm process technology and advanced core architecture, with a main frequency of 24 MHz and a processing capacity of up to 20MIPS. Embedded EEPROM, RC oscillator and a full set of standard peripherals provide designers with a stable and reliable solution.

Related tool chains, from economical discovery kits to more complex evaluation kits and third-party tools, provide great convenience for development using STM8S microcontrollers.

The STM8S series includes four product lines with different characteristics, but maintains full compatibility and upgradeability, thereby reducing future product design changes.

STM8S003/ STM8S005/ STM8S007 value-added products are entry-level products with basic functions.

STM8S103/STM8S105 basic type provides more features and packaging options.

The STM8S20 enhanced version is equipped with a full set of peripherals to meet the performance requirements of medium and high-end applications.

STM8S dedicated type provides more analog features and dedicated firmware solutions.

NO.2: STM8L series ultra-low power MCU

STMicroelectronics' ultra-low-power product line supports a variety of applications that are extremely power-sensitive, such as portable devices. Based on the 8-bit STM8 core, STM8L uses a proprietary ultra-low leakage current process like the STM32L series, and uses the lowest power mode to achieve ultra-low power consumption (0.30 uA).

The STM8L series includes 4 different product lines, suitable for applications that require special attention to saving power.

STM8L101 series

Lowest power consumption mode: 0.30 uA

Dynamic operating mode: 150 uA/MHz

STM8L151/ STM8L152 series

Lowest power consumption mode: 0.35 uA

Dynamic operating mode: 180 uA/MHz

STM8L162 series

Lowest power consumption mode: 0.35 uA

Dynamic operating mode: 180 uA/MHz

STM8L051/ STM8L052 series

Lowest power consumption mode: 0.35 uA

Dynamic operating mode: 180 uA/MHz

NO.3: STM8T series

ST's STM8T series utilizes the ProxSense charge transfer capacitance acquisition principle to support a variety of applications, from basic single-point touch (including proximity sensing) to an advanced matrix capable of managing 300 contacts or channels. The proximity detection range can be up to 20cm, and the capacitive electrode can be made of simple conductive materials, such as copper pads or conductive ITO layers.

STM8T141/STM8T143 is a single-channel capacitive sensor with 2 independent outputs for reporting touch or proximity events.

The STM8TL52/STM8TL53 series are based on the STM8L platform using ProxSense. The stable internal module provides strong anti-interference, while the innovative STM8L provides the advantages of low-power Flash-based technology. The combination of these two advanced solutions meets the needs of the most demanding user interfaces.

NO.4: STM8AF series automotive MCU

ST's STM8AF series is oriented towards standard automotive applications where parameter requirements (from reliability to system cost) cannot be reduced. The STM8AF series are modular products with high performance and provide the flexibility required for short development cycles. The true data EEPROM and the ability to withstand ambient temperatures up to 150 degrees make this series suitable for automotive applications.

Classic products:

STM8AF5198-8-bit MCU for automotive, with up to 128 KB flash memory, data EEPROM,

10-bit ADC, timer, LIN, CAN, USART, SPI, I2C, 3 to 5.5 V

Significant advantages:

1. Internally, users can adjust to 16 MHz RC and low-power 128 kHz RC oscillator

2. Wait/auto wake up/suspend low power consumption mode, according to user-defined clock gating

3. Program memory: 32 KB to 128 KB of flash memory program; data retention at 55°C for 20 years

NO.5: STM8AL ultra-low power consumption series automotive MCU

ST's STM8AL ultra-low power consumption series for automotive applications puts green energy, application safety and efficiency in the first place. It is particularly suitable for battery-powered applications (such as remote keyless entry and tire pressure monitoring) and applications where power consumption is critical: supporting microcontrollers, parking brakes and sensors.

The STM8AL series is based on the embedded features of STM8A, which reduces system costs, improves reliability, supports LIN communication, and provides more features, so that LCD drivers, RTC, DMA, comparators, 12-bit ADCs and DACs can be used to improve computing performance. Save power consumption and save storage space. It provides a unique combination of flexible and innovative low-cost solutions for automotive applications.

Classic products:

STM8AL3136-8-bit ultra-low power MCU for automotive use with 8 KB flash memory, 16 MHz CPU, integrated EEPROM

Significant advantages:

1. Five low-power modes: wait, low-power operation (5.1μA), low-power wait (3μA), active stop full RTC (1.3μA), stop with PDR (400 NA)

2. Automatic wake-up from pause (0.95 ppm resolution) w/ periodic interrupt

3. Four channels; supported peripherals: ADC, DAC, SPI, I2C, USART, timer
