Privacy security assurance and analysis of IoT devices

Date: 19-10-2020 ClickCount: 631

This series of articles mainly discuss the hardware and software conditions required to achieve IoT security, and how Cypress technology can help ensure the security of smart IoT devices.

For electronic devices, "safety" is not a new concept. Most smart phones have a processor to protect the security of the device. Most computers also have built-in security features, such as the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) on the motherboard to prevent tampering. However, there are still many other electronic products that did not incorporate the networking function in the initial design and therefore do not have embedded security functions. Today, the main challenge facing IoT device manufacturers is to make these "resource-constrained" devices meet the security standards of connected products.

Cypress, a subsidiary of Infineon, helps manufacturers build security into connected products. Cypress works closely with its cloud partner Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide out-of-the-box security solutions to achieve two-way end-to-end protection from node to cloud. With the open source secure firmware and integrated communication stack of the PSoC 64 Secure microcontroller (MCU), device manufacturers can quickly bring their secure IoT products to the market with a high cost performance.

About Cypress PSoC® 64

With an isolated hardware root of trust, it can provide reliable verification and configuration services

It has a pre-configured secure execution environment, can support a series of software of different IoT platforms, and provides functions such as transport layer security (TLS) authentication, secure storage, and secure firmware management

Equipped with Arm® Cortex® -M series processors, one of the first products to obtain the Arm Platform Security Architecture (PSA) certification program and meet the level 1 certification standard

TrustZone hardware security with Arm core, and provides basic encryption engines including symmetric encryption, asymmetric encryption, HASH algorithm, random number generator, ECC, RSA, etc.

Cypress is committed to reducing the design risks of the Internet of Things and helping partners to put products on the market faster with lower cost and less risk.

Reduce integration risks. Integrating IoT products into the cloud is one of the core technical challenges facing the IoT field. We launched the AnyCloud solution in ModusToolbox®, aiming to integrate computing and connectivity into a unified platform and simplify cloud integration. For customers using AWS IoT or Arm Pelion, ModusToolbox also includes pre-built solutions using cloud middleware, so it can be used out of the box.

Reduce security risks. As a leader in the field of IoT connectivity, Cypress products are often tested and studied by the industry's top security researchers. We accept feedback and complete changes quickly to help you ensure the safety of your products. By launching PSoC® 64 safety MCU products in the near future, we help you to further simplify your work on improving product safety.

Reduce connection risks. Internet of Things products often encounter Wi-Fi connection problems, which makes consumers quite dissatisfied. Therefore, we provide Internet of Things Network Intelligence (INI) tools to all Cypress Wi-Fi customers. INI is not only helpful for existing products in this field, but can also be used in your alpha and beta versions to find, isolate and repair any connection problems in your product before the product is released. INI can now run on Linux and is pre-integrated in ModusToolbox, so you can quickly and confidently put your product on the market.

In addition, Cypress also provides IoT-AdvantEdge solutions, including wireless connectivity chips, microcontrollers (MCU), software, development tools and support, and cooperation with ecological partners, etc., to help developers solve a series of key IoT devices The design problem reduces the complexity of development.
